Our Trainers
Colt Whiteside
Colt Whiteside is a dedicated horse trainer with a strong foundation in starting colts, gentling Mustangs, and helping horses develop into calm, responsive partners. Mentored by respected horseman Lanny Leach, Colt brings a practical, results-driven approach rooted in feel, timing, and respect for both horse and rider.
Colt has worked with a wide range of horses—from untouched Mustangs to client-owned prospects—and understands that success starts with clear communication and consistent handling. But it doesn’t stop with the horse. Colt is equally passionate about helping riders build confidence, improve their timing, and truly understand the “why” behind each cue.
Whether it’s teaching beginners to handle a horse safely on the ground or guiding more advanced riders through timing, pressure, and body control in the saddle, Colt focuses on building strong, functional partnerships. His lessons emphasize calmness, clarity, and setting both horse and rider up for long-term success.
Now training and teaching at Silver Spoon Ranch, Colt is committed to helping people grow into capable, confident horsemen and horsewomen—no matter where they’re starting from.
